Expert Tips for Chunky Yarn

  • Tension is Everything: Chenille yarn can be tricky because it is hard to see the stitches. Use your fingers to “feel” for the V-shape of the stitches as you work.
  • Avoid “Over-Stuffing”: With super bulky yarn, it’s easy to stretch the stitches if you stuff too hard. Use just enough fiberfill to make him firm but squishy.
  • Lock Your Safety Eyes: Since this is a chunky plushie, make sure to use the plastic washers on the back of the safety eyes and press them on firmly until they click. If you are gifting this to a small child, consider using embroidery for the eyes instead of plastic ones to ensure safety.
  • The Blush: Use a scrap of thin pink yarn to stitch a small horizontal line under each eye. This is the secret to giving him that sweet, Kawaii expression seen in the video!
